Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 August 2026

DayTrip.tours helps people discover places, save and plan days out, connect with friends and create shared Group Days. This policy explains what personal information we use and the choices available to you.

Who this policy applies to

In this policy, “DayTrip.tours”, “DayTrip”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the DayTrip.tours service. This policy covers visitors, registered travellers and people using our business or sponsorship features.

Information we may collect

  • Account details such as your email address, display name, profile photo and login information.
  • Social information you choose to create in DayTrip, including friendships, Group Days, invitations, trip stories, photos and comments.
  • Saved places, itineraries, favourites and other activity needed to provide your account features.
  • Location information when you allow your browser or device to share it so we can show places near you. You can refuse or disable location access in your device settings.
  • Subscription, purchase and billing status. Card details are handled by our payment provider rather than stored directly by DayTrip.
  • Business, merchant and sponsorship information where you use those services.
  • Technical and usage information such as device/browser details, IP address, service logs, errors and feature usage used to operate, secure and improve DayTrip.

Facebook connection and friend matching

If you choose to connect Facebook, DayTrip requests only the permissions shown during the Facebook authorisation flow. Friend matching is limited by Facebook to friends who have also authorised DayTrip. We use the permitted Facebook identifiers to match those users to DayTrip profiles and help you send a DayTrip friend request.

Connecting Facebook is optional. You can continue to use DayTrip without Facebook and can reconnect or remove the connection through your account/provider settings.

How we use information

  • To provide accounts, discovery, saved trips, social features, Group Days and subscriptions.
  • To authenticate users, prevent abuse, investigate errors and keep the service secure.
  • To process payments, subscriptions and sponsorships.
  • To respond to support requests and account/data-rights requests.
  • To understand how DayTrip is used and improve the service.
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect our legitimate interests and the rights of users.

Depending on the feature and circumstances, our legal basis may include performing our contract with you, your consent, compliance with a legal obligation, or our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service.

Service providers

We use specialist providers to run DayTrip. These currently include hosting and delivery services, database/authentication services, payment processing and optional social-login services. Providers may include Vercel, Supabase, Stripe and Meta/Facebook where the relevant feature is used.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

International processing

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, appropriate contractual or legal safeguards are used by us or our providers for international transfers.

How long we keep information

We keep account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for security, backup, dispute resolution or legal obligations. Payment and transaction records may need to be retained for longer to meet accounting and legal requirements.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or ask for a portable copy of information you provided.

For account and data deletion, see our Data Deletion page. For other privacy requests, use our contact form.

Children

DayTrip is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children who are not legally able to consent to the relevant online service in their country. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as DayTrip develops or legal requirements change. The latest version will always be available at this URL and will show the date of the latest update.
